Date & Place: 28.06.2025 OTH Regensburg

Event Decription

On its Open Day, Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Regensburg welcomed prospective students, families, and staff members’ relatives to explore the diverse academic and research landscape of the university. From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., all faculties presented a varied program including lectures, guided lab tours, and hands-on activities. Visitors were given exciting insights into current research projects, innovative degree programs, and modern teaching formats.

At the VReduMED project stand, interested guests – including children, adolescents, OTH members, and external visitors – were invited to immerse themselves in the world of XR-based learning technologies. Using virtual reality headsets, attendees could explore applications from the project that demonstrate how XR technologies are being used in nursing education. The experience sparked curiosity, excitement, and amazement as visitors took their first steps into virtual environments. They gained a concrete impression of how the project is being implemented at partner schools and how digital tools are helping to reshape learning in nursing education.

Our stand offered a valuable opportunity to showcase the core objectives of the VReduMED project and to illustrate recent developments in digital nursing education. It became clear how virtual and augmented reality technologies can enhance learning motivation, make complex content more accessible, and support individualized learning paths. The feedback from visitors highlighted the strong interest in innovative, technology-driven teaching methods in healthcare – and showed just how tangible the future of education can become through digital innovation.

Participants

Project representatives, Prof. Dr. Christa Mohr and student assistants Stephanie Teves and Cheryl Heinz, engaged in numerous discussions with prospective students, interested visitors, OTH members, and their families, many of whom took the opportunity to explore XR in action.
